Tourney Report

The first game of the morning was the Omemee Sharks vs. the Manvers Moose.  This was an energized game even though it was early.  The Sharks were pumped and ready for the challenge. Manvers opened the scoring in the first period but #44 tied it back up with an assist to #66.  The Sharks had 2 more goals in the second by #93 and #66. The only two assists that were recorded came from #12 and #9.  Manvers also had 2 more goals, so the game was tied at 3.  Manvers scored the go ahead goal with 1 minute left in the game, so the Sharks pulled their goalie. Unfortunately Manvers got an empty net goal to finish off the game, 5-3. This was an exciting game to watch.  The Sharks played well.

The second game of the day for the Sharks was against Grafton.  It seemed like the referees found their whistles for this game.  The Sharks had 5 penalties and Grafton had 4.  Lots of shorthanded play made this game exciting.  The Sharks goals were to # 33, assist to #66, #44, assist to #66.  Hot-handed #10 scored a hat trick this game and was assisted by # 93 and #16.  In this game the Sharks had a bit of a break down and found themselves behind in the score 5-2.  They never game up and regrouped to score 3 goals and come back to force an overtime period.  After the 5-minute overtime the score remained tied at 5.  The Sharks showed their determination by coming back to tie the game.  High fives in the dressing room were all well deserved.

The third game was for the ‘B’ championship.  The Sharks played against Mariposa.  This was a close game with great goaltending at both ends.  #30, goaltender for the Sharks, received the player of the game award.  He came up big for the team again.  During the first period #77 scored and the assist went to #4.  The second goal came from #10 with the assist going to #93.  There was no scoring during the second period.  But defenceman #16 scored on a great rush after receiving a pass from #25.  The Sharks were ahead at this point but Mariposa came back to tie the game by the end of the third.  During sudden death overtime Mariposa scored to end the game with a 4-3 victory.  The Sharks had a great day of fun and their home tournament was a success.
