A Close One In The Pit
The Sharks ended the game against the first place team, Orono, with a heartbreak tonight. Everyone’s energy level was up and they had the Orono team a little worried. The Sharks didn’t appear to be the same team they had met and beat in Orono, 7-1.
High flying # 66 opened the scoring in the first period with not one but two goals. Winger, #25, assisted him on both goals and #19 and #9 also got the helpers. Orono answered with one goal and the first stanza ended with the Sharks ahead by one.
The long legs and long reach of #93 helped him find the loose puck in the crease to add another goal for the Sharks. Great digging in front of the net. An Orono forward was gifted with a breakaway and scored to end the second period only one goal behind the Sharks.
#25 got the insurance goal at 8:08 of the third. #9 got the shot away and #25 was ready for the rebound. Less then a minute later the Orono team scored to get within reach again. Orono got 2 quick goals late in the period to go ahead in the score by one.
The heartbreak occurred for the Sharks when the game was called because of the time curfew, with only a minute and a half left. The feeling on the ice was that they knew they were going to score and tie it up but unfortunately, they were beaten by the clock. Orono takes home the win with a little luck on their side.
A great game for the Sharks. They gave the high scoring Orono team a bit of a scare. Never underestimate the bit of the Shark. We always come back for more. Great game by both teams!
Good Draw after shaky start
Its was a sloppy start for the Sharks tonight, but they soon regrouped and came away with a 1-1 tie against Cannington. They played much better then the last time when Cannington beat them.
Cannington scored early in the first period with the puck squeezing under the goalie and barely crossing the line. Good defensive work kept the Sharks only down one goal and gave them the time they needed to regroup.
The second period was great for the Sharks. They played their positions well. #25 made a nice pass up to send #9 in on a breakaway. He did not score but it seem to pump up the team. They had several good scoring chances after that but could not get it past the big Cannington goalie.
Great passes and shots from the point continued into the third period. I’ll bet the Sharks were getting frustrated but they did not show it. Finally, with 3:39 left, #12 scored his first goal of the season. #10 got the assist with a nice pass out front and right on the tape. This was a great reward for #12, as he seemed to take a beating out there.
Another great game to watch from the stands. The Sharks had the pressure on for most of the game and the whole crowd on the edge of their seats. This reporter was thoroughly entertained and was very please to see #12 get his first goal. HIGH FIVE FOR #12…J
Sharks Bite Back
11/16/2002
Well folks, it was all teeth and tails today in Omemee. The Sharks beat Millbrook 6-0. A great performance from the goalie, #30, earns him another shutout. The first shark bite came only 10 seconds into the game, scored by #9. Three more goals were registered in the first period. #66 and #93 were in position at the top of the crease and #10 scored a bad angle goal in the top shelf.
There was no scoring in the second period but the spitfire, #16, took a penalty for tripping. The Sharks penalty killers did a terrific job and Millbrook only had 2 shots on net.
Two more goals were added in the third period for the Sharks. #16 scored a breakaway goal over the goalie’s shoulder and #66 scored his second of the game with less then a minute left in the game. CONGRATS SHARKS, bring on the next game………Jaws
Orono Win
11/15/2002
Tonight the Sharks headed south for a game against the top place team, Orono. The Orono team proved to be a little to much for the Sharks. Omemee gave their best effort and had several good scoring chances, but Orono came away with the win, 7-1. The lone goal was scored by #25 and was assisted by #9. #25 had several pokes at the puck and was rewarded with the goal for his hard effort in the crease. The Sharks completed some good checks and did not register any penalties. Orono had 3 penalties called. CHEER UP BOYS…tomorrows another game..J
